McNamara Congratulates Clare Team On First Minor Title Since 1997
Clare’s first All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship title in 26 years following a 2-22 to 4-11 win over Galway has been lauded by Independent Clare TD Michael McNamara.
The Scariff TD said, “I wish to congratulate the players, led by man-of-the-match and captain Eoghan Gunning, and Brian O’Connell’s management team on an outstanding display at Semple Stadium. Clare played all the hurling from start to finish and, despite the warm conditions, put in a monumental performance for 60 plus minutes. This is a massive win for hurling in the county and will give a huge boost to our county teams at all age levels.”
“The 26-man Clare squad for the final featured players from 17 different clubs across the county, which is testament to the strength and depth of our underage setup”, added Deputy McNamara. “I want to commend Clare GAA for its continued investment in the development of our young hurlers, which is bearing fruit with this All-Ireland title. This win will give the entire county a huge lift as we head into next Sunday’s Munster Hurling Final clash with Limerick.”
